Data Scientist Team Lead

Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Data Science Lead to join our Data & Analytics team. In this role you will lead a team of two data scientists while staying hands-on in delivery yourself. You will bring not only technical expertise but also a deep understanding of business operations and strategy. You will set the direction and priorities for the team, coach your data scientists in their technical and professional growth, and personally own the most complex projects end to end. This is deliberately a hybrid role: you will spend a meaningful share of your time building models, writing code and reviewing your team's output. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Development (lead, coach and grow a team of two data scientists); Hands-on Delivery (own the most complex projects end to end, set technical standard through code reviews and pairing); Planning & Prioritisation (manage backlog and capacity); Business Insight Development; Data Strategy (own the data science roadmap with leadership); Predictive Modeling & Machine Learning; Data Analysis & Visualization; Data science pipeline improvement; Cross-functional Collaboration; Continuous Improvement in data science/AI/ML trends. Requirements: Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field. 5+ years of experience in data science, including at least 3 years in a data science lead/team lead or equivalent leadership position. Proven leadership experience line-managing and developing data scientists. Hands-on credibility (production-quality code, code review). Stakeholder management experience. Strong business-alignment and communication skills. Technical skills: Python, R, or Scala; ML frameworks (TensorFlow, Scikit-learn); SQL and large datasets; cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and big data tools (Hadoop, Spark). Career level: Management.
