We are CureNavi, an early-stage healthtech startup on a mission to transform cancer care. In close collaboration with Charité Berlin, we are developing a platform that structures oncology patient data and matches patients with relevant clinical trials. We have incorporated the company in January 2026 and are developing our MVP to be launched in Summer 2026. Your Mission: • Translate medical needs into technical solutions → Work closely with oncologists, clinical researchers, and the founding team to solve medical problems with scalable AI tools. • Take over the MVP developed by our partner and review the architecture, further optimize it based on patient and physicians' feedback. Prepare the road map of future developments and resources needed. • Guide infrastructure & architecture choices → Define and help implement a future-proof backend, interoperable database structure, cloud architecture, and data pipelines that balance performance, cost, and security. • Design the architecture and processes to meet MDR and ISO 27001 requirements and ensuring our LLM-based features produce stable, predictable, and auditable outputs in production. • Build the foundation for a patient-facing app → Lead the design of a secure, intuitive mobile/web application that allows patients to upload medical documents easily and safely. • Ensure data privacy & compliance from day one → Set the standards for handling sensitive health data securely and in line with GDPR and medical-grade quality practices. Your profile: ✔️ You have 10+ years building and operating backend and data-heavy systems in production, ideally in healthtech or other regulated domains, with strong Python skills and experience with frameworks like Django or FastAPI and RESTful APIs. ✔️ You are comfortable with event-driven architectures and data pipelines on AWS (e.g. S3, Lambda, Step Functions, SQS/SNS), and with hybrid storage patterns using PostgreSQL (including JSON columns) and optionally DynamoDB. ✔️ You have hands-on experience with running services on AWS in production, including containerization (Docker, ECS/Fargate), core networking (VPC, security groups, load balancers), and modern CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code (GitHub Actions, Terraform or similar). ✔️ You have experience integrating AI/ML into production systems (e.g. document AI like Textract, LLM-based extraction with models like Claude/Bedrock, and tools such as MLflow or Langfuse). ✔️ Experience with healthcare data standards and semantics (FHIR, MII profiles, ICD-10, SNOMED, LOINC) and with building systems that meet GDPR, MDR, and ISO 27001 expectations. ✔️ Startup mindset and ownership mentality → You like autonomy, move quickly, and have an eye for both short-term execution and long-term product vision. ✔️ Passionate problem-solver who designs and delivers technology solutions that truly work for customers, streamline physician workflows, and save valuable clinical time. ✔️ Ideally Berlin based but we will consider hybrid solutions within Europe if you are the one! ✔️ Build and lead a growing engineering team with a strong focus on team spirit, dedicating time to individual coaching, career development, and fostering professional growth for each member. ✔️ German language skills (not required but helpful in working with Charité) What we offer: Impact that matters, direct access to real-world users with rapid feedback from one of Europe's top cancer centers, and true ownership — you won't just code, you'll shape the product, strategy, and company direction.
